CB210 Power supply via VIN

Postby tima » Fri Feb 24, 2012 5:36 pm

Hi All,
Probably a dumb question but is it possible to supply 5v to the CB210 via VIN and Gnd?
I ask because I'm prototyping a daughter board which will give RS485 comms (via COM 1) and which has an external power supply. The daughterboard also direct solders to 4 Switches(light switchs with LED indicators).
Many Thanks Tima

VIN goes through the regulator, so you would need more than 5V for that to work correctly.

However, the 5V pin is connected 5V within the CB210, so if you connected 5V to the 5V pin, then the microcontroller would be supplied with 5V.

Warning: if it could be something other than nice, clean 5V, then you probably shouldn't connect it since there's no protection into the 5V pin.
